In the beautiful Portuguese countryside, there are still a lot of small decade-old factories and workshops that have resisted the tide of globalisation. In recent times, however, many young local and international designers have decided to explore this almost extinct world of tireless workmanship and locally-sourced materials; a world in which the beauty of an object is supported by its functionality perfected over centuries.
In curating Figgoscope’s collection, design and aesthetics play the key role, but we always pay a lot of attention to even further details: How was the product made? How will it look after a few years? Will it look as good in real life as in the picture?
That is why Figgoscope Curates decided to collaborate with designers and makers who use old traditions and craft techniques as a medium for their endeavour into interior design. Their products are of the best quality and have the most contemporary and versatile design qualities. But they also have a story; they are a meaningful addition to a fast-paced urban life.
"We see Figgoscope Curates products as anchors connecting our lives
with the long tradition of adorning our everyday spaces, of
transitioning from the mundane to the timeless."
