From the rural region of Reguengos de Monsaraz in Alentejo, Portugal comes an historical collection of ornate rugs carefully constructed with beauty and functionality in mind. The age-old, hand craftsmanship used to produce these treasures makes them of the finest quality available today. Together, these features allow each Alentejo rug to breathe an unparalleled character into the space they adorn.
The Alentejo range of rugs speaks to Figgoscope Curates strong philosophy of sustainability and slow design. Out of a single loom factory in the rustic community of Portugal’s countryside, five seasoned artisans produce these pieces from locally produced merino wool and techniques that have been refined over centuries. In 1975, a female Dutch entrepreneur revived the factory, Fabrica Alentejana de Lanificios. Her husband’s background in textiles made it easy to refurbish the space, which was dedicated to traditional Portuguese looms, flat weaves and original patterns.
Today, Figgoscope Curates facilitates the continued use of classic patterns and processes for modern decorum on international scale. Each thread remains carefully assembled by hand and under the watchful eye of a skilled technician. The ultimate result is one of impeccable durability and character that sings irrefutable sophistication and style.
Figgoscope Curates proudly connects designers to this age-old looming technique for creating bespoke designs. These special rugs are available in various colours, sizes and pattern combinations to suite any particular scheme or intent.
